Hi- Iâm Wyatt! I'm a special guy because I don't have use of my 2 hind legs! Some of you have seen all my adorable pictures and videos and have been following me since the day I was rescued! If you havenât I recommend you go search my name on the AZ Happy Tails Facebook page so you can see how I move & what Iâve been up to! As cute as I am, Iâll be the first to admit that Iâm a LOT of work! My mom and I thought it might be a good idea to describe a typical day in our lives so interested families could have a better idea of what it takes to care for me. What comes next is pretty long, but what can I say- Iâm a busy puppy! Also, after you read what I have to say, my mom lets you know what will make the best forever home for me. Here we go⦠When I wake up in the morning my foster mom gets my breakfast ready while I wait in my crate. I bark and hop in my crate in an attempt to get her to hurry, and let her know I'm starving, but she tells me to be patient and that there are four others that need to be fed, too. Iâm a puppy, waiting is HARD! Before I go in my play pen area to eat, Mom changes my belly band that is soaked from the night. I wear a belly band all day because I have no bladder control and if Iâm not wearing one, I pee all over- all day long. Next, she checks my crate - sometimes I poop in there in the morning. If I have, Mom cleans my crate and replaces the sheet that's in there. I have to wait in my play pen this whole time! Without breakfast!! After I gobble up breakfast and get a big drink of water (the water bowl can't be left in my crate or pen or I try to show Mom I can carry it, but instead dump it out), Mom waits for my morning poop if it hasnât already happened. Once I've pooped, she wipes me, and it's time to get in my wheels! During my first 10-15 minute wheel time, Mom does another round of cleaning-up after me and changes any papers in my pen that have poop or pee. My momâs gotten really good at this, so from start to finish this takes about 30 minutes and then it's time for Mom to start work - good thing she works from home. Mom set up another play pen for me right in her office so I can see her because I will bark and bark if I don't get to be in the same room. During our 8 hour work day, I periodically get a water bowl and since I have no bowel control, Mom cleans up my poop, wipes my bottom, and changes the papers in my pen as needed. Every two or three hours my belly band gets changed and I get 10-15 minutes out in my wheels. I love the other dogs and the cat in my house, but Mom has to keep an eye on my foster sister's when I'm rolling. I move a little different, so I can make them nervous. Most days after work is when we get to do my swim therapy. We donât have a pool at home, so my mom loads me into the crate in our car and we take a trip to a friendâs pool! We swim 10-15 minutes, which Iâd rather not, but my physical therapist says itâs good for me. When we get home, that usually means it's dinner time! Like breakfast, I wait in my pen while she gets everyone's dinner. I still try to get her to go faster. It doesn't work. After dinner there are more belly band changes and wheel sessions and poop clean up. Of course, we always make sure to spend time snuggling and playing- Iâm just a puppy and Iâm always ready to play! When Mom puts me in my crate for bed, that's when she starts the daily laundry. There are lots of sheets and belly bands every day. Mom also replaces all the papers from under both of my pens and cuts new papers so they are ready for the next morning. Man, I'm a busy guy huh?! ? Wyatt is an amazing puppy, but heâs looking for a very particular forever home. Right now, Wyatt is just a puppy. His body is still growing so his continued therapy is our number one priority because we anticipate, when full grown, he will be close to 50 pounds. He is behind in his motor skills, but he has already shown improvement in strengthening his weak and atrophied muscles. To continue the progress and to ensure Wyatt reaches and maintains peak physical development, he must have time to swim daily along with multiple opportunities to cruise in his cart. Although at this point, he is small and pretty easy to put into his harness and cart, he will need someone who, even when fully grown, is able to physically lift and maneuver him or get him back on his feet when he tips over his cart. Wyatt needs a steady stable high protein diet. The highest quality nourishment will support his optimal growth. Wyatt will NEVER have bladder or bowel control. Aside from bed time, he requires a diaper change every 3 hours, so he cannot be crated for long periods of time and heâll need a family with flexibility to be home when he needs them. We do not use a full diaper; only the male diapers to contain urination. If he wears a full diaper and sits in poop, it will burn his skin. With a proper diet and consistent feeding schedule, he is on a fairly regular poop schedule, so it can be easier to predict when he will poop. Wyatt needs home with a yard, a fenced pool, and little to no stairs! He needs BIG spaces with flat surfaces. Due to the size of his cart, he needs BIG open spaces with flat surfaces both indoors and out. He needs room to run and turn because even with open spaces it is likely he will knock over things and run into people. As a bonus, Wyatt would do best with a patient, playful dog in the house as both a playmate and a teacher. In addition to his special needs, Wyatt has many of the traits of a typical puppy- he chews, cries, whines, and barks. He needs a home with a lot of patience along with clear rules to help him become a well socialized and well behaved dog. Wyatt is neutered, micro chipped, and up to date on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $300.00. For the chance to bring this amazing pup into your home, please complete an application at happytailsaz.org.

Meet Handsome Hans! This amazing young guy has been through quite a bit in his short life, but you would never know it- he's always happy, he loves everyone and he spreads pure joy wherever he goes. He's a 3-legged, 70 pound German Shepherd that's 2 years old. He was rescued off the reservation in December. He had a home, but he lived outside and wandered off frequently getting himself into trouble every now and then. He really enjoyed digging in other folk's trash and trying to charm the ladies with his cool swag and stunning looks! His antics got him picked up by the local doggie police a few times and eventually his owners stopped paying his fines and picking him up. In January, he had a scary 36 hours where a clostridia myonecrosis infection produced a very large abscess under his hip bone. It was quickly killing his muscles and tendons, so to save his life, our vet amputated the leg. Within hours of the surgery, he felt SO much better and has since been given a clean bill of health! Hans is now ready for his forever home and we are looking for a few very specific things. A home with a yard, no small dogs, and no cats is going to be best. Hans has to be kept at a healthy weight as he is supporting his very large frame on just three legs. He needs regular exercise to keep his remaining hind leg strong and fit. He is a dog that truly brings joy to everyone he meets, so we would love to find someone interested in doing therapy work with him. Hans is happy as can be to play with a big doggy friend, carry a stuffed toy in his mouth, play ball in the yard, go for a ride in the car, then snuggle with his humans. Hans is house trained, crate trained, neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $350.00. If you think you may be the perfect candidate to give Hans an amazing forever home, please fill out and submit our adoption application. It can be found at happytailsaz.org.

Meet Cricket! This beautiful girl has an 'old soul' in a young body! She's an 8 year old chihuahua and she weighs about 16 pounds. Cricket will almost always look like she is deep in thought, which we think is because she's imagining the perfect forever family that will soon walk into her life! Cricket is the perfect dog to walk on a leash- she never reacts or barks, she's just happy to be out walking! She currently sleeps in her own dog bed at night, but she would have no trouble sharing the big bed with her humans. She's recently found the joy of squeaky toys and happily entertains herself. She's shy and quiet but will surprise you with a couple big deep bark at the 'big' things like door bells! Cricket is great with other dogs, house-trained, dog-door trained, and crate trained. She's spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and her adoption fee is $225. For the chance to add this sweet girl to your family, please complete an application at happytailsaz.org.

She's living a MUCH different life in her foster home! Her eyes are quick to capture everyone's attention and when you meet her, you'll see she has the cutest little 'cow spots' on her back. She's sweet, happy, and ready to go everywhere with her forever family! Maybelline would do well in a home with another easy-going small dog or as an only dog. Maybelline is crate-trained, doggie-door trained, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250. Meet handsome Griffin! The smile that you see is pretty much a permanent fixture on this goof-ball's face! He's a shepherd mix that is just over a year old and weighs about 50 pounds. This boy loves other dogs and loves all people! He's a busy youngster that is always ready for a good game of tug'o'war or fetch. He even carries his favorite toy with him throughout the house so that he's always ready to play! He knows basic commands like sit and down, but will do best in a home willing to do continued training with him since he definitely has his crazy puppy moments! When we rescued Griffin, he had a golf-ball size growth on his front, right elbow. He was immediately taken to our vet and it was discovered that he has Valley Fever. He's been on fluconazole since the diagnosis in December 2016 and the growth is now gone, but he will remain on the medication for at least 6 months. Griffin also had 2 seizures in his foster home, but was treated immediately, responded well to the medication, and is seizure-free ever since! He takes his pills like a champ and his 6 month supply of medication will go with him to his forever home! Griffin is house-broken, crate-trained, dog-door trained, neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $300.00. For the chance to meet Griffin, please complete an application at happytailsaz.org.

Hi! I'm Fiona, but my friends all call me Fi! Let me tell you what I'm looking for in my forever home and really, I don't think it's too much. I need a home with another playful, confident dog (a kitty friend would be a bonus)! I'd love a human that loves to go for walks- currently my favorite path is the ASU Research Park in Tempe! I need to live in a home with a yard- I wouldn't do well in an apartment. Lastly, I need a human that's going to help me continue to come out of my shell. You see, before I was rescued, I was a feral pup that was part of a pack, but not part of a family. I've made HUGE strides in my foster home, but I need a confident human that won't let me curl up and hide because, when given the option, that's what I choose to do. I'm sweet as can be and love ALL people- big and small! Although I won't initiate love, once you give me some pets, I'll return the love with many gently kisses! I just can't wait to find my forever home! Fiona is about a year and a half old and weighs about 35 pounds. We've rescued a lot of dogs like Fiona and they always become wonderful family dogs when given love and patience. Fiona is house trained, crate trained, spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and her adoption fee is $250.00. For the chance to meet Fiona please complete an application on our website; happytailsaz.org.
